36-38 Stoke Newington Road – bar application rejected!

November 14, 2012

In another sign that residents’ voices are being heard, Hackney Council’s Planning Subcommittee has REJECTED the application for planning permission to create a double-fronted bar at 36-38 Stoke Newington Road.

The reason given was that:

The proposed use, by reason of its position below existing residential units, and its location, would result in an unacceptable increase in noise and general disturbance, together with the cumulative impact of other similar uses in the area, which would adversely affect the amenity of the neighbouring occupiers. As such, the proposal would be contrary to policy 15 (Evening and Night Time Economy) of the Core Strategy 2010, and saved policies R10 (Cafes, Restaurants, Wine Bars and Take-Away Hot Food Shops) and EQ40 (Noise Control) of the Hackney Unitary Development Plan 1995.
