Plus One Wine Bar – application rejected!

January 4, 2013

Hackney Council has REJECTED the planning application from Plus One Wine Bar, 20 Stoke Newington Road, for ‘continued use of ground floor as a wine bar (Class A4) use,
in connection with existing wine bar at basement level, with opening hours 11am to 1am
(following day) Sunday to Friday (including bank holidays), and 11am to 2am (following day) Saturdays’.

It did so for the following reasons:

‘The use, by reason of its position immediately below residential units and in close
proximity to other residential units, its location, and the hours of operation, results
in an unacceptable increase in noise and general disturbance, together with the
cumulative impact of other similar uses in the area, which adversely affects the
amenity of the neighbouring occupiers. As such, the proposal would be contrary
to policies 15 (Evening and Night Time Economy) of the Core Strategy 2010, and
saved policies R10 (Cafes, Restaurants, Wine Bars and Take-Away Hot Food
Shops) and EQ40 (Noise Control) of the Hackney Unitary Development Plan 1995
and Policy 7.4 (Local Character) of the London Plan 2011.’
