l’Atelier wants an alcohol license

February 8, 2013

There has been an application from Mr Sarraute for a premises license to allow supply of alcohol from 11.00 to 23.00 daily at l’Atelier, 31 Stoke Newington Road. These premises are currently a cafe so this application, if successful, will effectively add another licensed premises to an area which already has a large number.

The proprietor, Mr Sarraute, is also the proprietor of the Dalston Pier at 2A John Campbell Road. Earlier this year, this venue kept its neighbours awake with a New Year’s Eve ‘private party’ until after 8 am on January 1st, at which point some neighbours called the police to complain. The noise (which could be heard as far away as Sandringham Road) finally stopped around 8.30 a.m.

It should be noted that 2A John Campbell Road has planning permission ONLY for retail use until 7.30 p.m.

The deadline for objections to this application is March 1st, 2013.

If you want to object, email licensing@hackney.gov.uk with the name of the premises and/or its address in the subject line of your email.

Your objection is most likely to be taken seriously if it directly addresses the objectives of Hackney’s Licensing Policy. The four main objectives of the policy are:

• Prevention of crime and disorder
• Public safety
• Prevention of public nuisance
• Protection of children from harm.
