8 Stoke Newington Road – night club application refused

March 26, 2013

Hackney Council have refused planning permission for a change of use of basement unit from a snooker club use to a night club with late opening hours at 8 Stoke Newington Road. The reasons for this refusal were that:

‘The proposed development, by reason of its hours of opening and lack of adequate noise mitigation measures, would have an unacceptable detrimental impact upon the amenity of adjoining occupiers in terms of noise and disturbance in the late evening and night. As such, the proposal would be contrary to policy 7.15 (Reducing noise and enhancing soundscapes) of the London Plan 2011, policy 24 (Design) of the Hackney Core Strategy 2010, and saved policies EQ40 (Noise Control) and EQ42 (Air Pollution) of the Hackney UDP 1995.’
