Red Art seeking club licence

May 31, 2013

Red Art, of 113 Kingsland High Street, have applied for ‘a premises licence for live music, recorded music, performance of dance, anything of similar description and supply of alcohol from 11:00 to 00:00 Sun to Thurs and from 11:00 to 02:00am Fri and Sat and late night refreshment from 23:00 to 00:00 Sun to Thurs and from 23:00 to 02:00am Fri and Sat’ for their basement.

This would in effect add another club to a stretch of the High Street which is already over-supplied with them.

It should be noted that Red Art are currently being investigated by Hackney Council’s Planning and Regulatory Services for a possible breach of planning control, relating to their use of a rear roof terrace as an extension of their first floor cafe/restaurant.

The deadline for objections to this application is June 19th 2013.

If you want to object, email licensing@hackney.gov.uk with the name of the premises and/or its address in the subject line of your email.

Your objection is most likely to be taken seriously if it directly addresses the objectives of Hackney’s Licensing Policy. The four main objectives of the policy are:

• Prevention of crime and disorder
• Public safety
• Prevention of public nuisance
• Protection of children from harm.
