last day for objections to 15-storey tower on Peacocks site

January 13, 2014

Deadline for objections: 13th January, 2014.

A revised planning application has been submitted for a 15-storey block at 51-57 Kingsland High Street.
The plans can be viewed by going to and searching for the application using the reference number 2013/2042
Whilst this application is a few storeys lower than the plans submitted in earlier applications, it is still very high, and would cast a shadow over the surrounding area including parts of Boleyn Road, Bradbury Street, Bradbury Mews, and Ridley Road as well as Kingsland High Street. Some residents in these streets would see their daylight reduced.
As well as a slight reduction in height, there are some other improvements on the previous applications: it is now proposed to include two disability parking spaces and some cycle spaces and a few affordable flats. But these are still pitifully few. It is proposed to build 125 residential units in all (34 of which will be three-bedroom, 47 two-bedroom and 44 one-bedroom. Of these, 14 will be ‘affordable’ (of which 3 will be three-bed, 4 two-bed and 7 one-bed).
You can post your comments or objections online at the Hackney Council website, or email quoting the planning reference number 2013/2042 in the subject line.
