‘Morris House’ appeal

July 19, 2014

Having had a number of previous proposals rejected by Hackney Council’s Planning Committee, Crystal Properties have taken to appeal their most recent application for a development on the site currently occupied by Tesco, diagonally opposite the Rio Cinema, at 130 Kingsland High Street.

The application is for a 5-storey building (which would feel like a 6-storey building from Sandringham Road, because of the slope) which would extend right to the edge of the pavement (covering the area currently occupied by the Tesco forecourt) and would tower over neighbouring buildings. The design (shown here) is very dated, resembling some of the worse developments of the 1990s.

Local residents, including those directly neighbouring the site who had objected in the past, were not informed of this appeal.

The deadline for providing evidence relating to it is July 21st.

Anyone wishing to submit evidence should write to teamP3@pins.gsi.gov.uk before this deadline, quoting planning appeal reference: APPEAL REF – APP/U5360//A/13/2210396
