Skylarking cafe now wants off licence too
An application has been made to Hackney Council by the Skylarking Cafe, 52 Boleyn Road for off-sales of alcohol during the current licensed hours of 08:00 to 23:00 Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 23:00 Saturday and 10:00 to 23:00 Sunday.
We predicted in May, 2015, when they first made an application for an alcohol license that this, like so many others, would be the thin end of a wedge and this has indeed turned out to be the case.
These premises are situated on the corner of Bradbury Street which already has a large number of premises selling alcohol to the public and is a source of nuisance to residents in that street and nearby Gillet Square. It is within the Dalston SPA area, orginally set up to limit anti-social behaviour linked to the night-time economy in an area where the licensed bars, clubs, restaurants and off licenses have reached saturation point.
Local residents experience a high level of anti-social behaviour, much of it related to street drinking.
The deadline for objections to this application is January 7th, 2016.
If you wish to object to this application, write to email@example.com with the address of the premises in the subject line.
Your objection is most likely to be taken seriously if it directly addresses the objectives of Hackney’s Licensing Policy. The four main objectives of the policy are:
• Prevention of crime and disorder
• Public safety
• Prevention of public nuisance
• Protection of children from harm.
