New development at 5 Crossway

February 6, 2016

A new application has been submitted for a development at 5 Crossway, on the site currently occupied by the car wash.

The proposal is for a four storey building with a large resturant on the ground floor and a ‘social club’ at first floor level with some flats above.

The application can be viewed on Hackney Council’s website (search for application number 2015/2682) or in person at the Council’s Service Centre at 1 Hillman Street, E8 1DY.

The development will not only have implications for neighbours in Crossway, John Campbell Road, Stoke Newington Road and Stoke Newington High Street but also for the broader neighbourhood, because adding another large licensed establishment in the area will have knock-on effect in terms of anti-social behaviour, parking, etc.

If you wish to comment on the application you can do so online or by emailing planningconsultation@Hackney.gov.uk

The deadline for comments is Fenruary 24th, 2016.

More building developments very nearby. You can follow the links to get more details and to express your opinions and concerns.

The proposed development on Crossway illustrates, in the Design and Access Statement, a 3D visual from the street with the new multi-use development sitting adjacent to a white ghosted building. As this building does not exist I am mindful of a later application that will further pen in the residents on JC. This is especially the case when one considers the new development on the opposite side of the road!
The alley way between Dudleys and the proposed will certainly become Dalston’s next outdoor toilet and no effort has been made to soften this urban space for address the social context. Residents are all to familiar with how this will be used.
