Proposal to extend Stamford Works

December 16, 2019

stamford works

Arctic Estates have applied for planning permission to extend Stamford Works, ref 2019/4234,  by adding two storeys of new B1 (light industrial: studios/ officers etc.) accommodation to the roof of the block that forms the north boundary of the Gillett Square car park.  The lift overrun rises higher by a storey to its east. Some residents of the houses to the south side of John Campbell Road (odd numbers) have raised their concern about the possible impact on their properties.  Lisa Shell, chair of the The Rio Cross Residents Association has submitted the following comments to Hackney Council and will provide an update if additional documents are made available by the applicant.  In the meantime you may wish to express your concern by objecting to the proposals, in the absence of any information that demonstrates that there will be no harm caused to you by the development.

019/4234 Stamford Works, Gillett Street, Hackney, London, N16 8JH

Erection of a four-storey side extension and two-storey roof extension to provide additional office floorspace (Use Class B1); erection of single-storey ancillary building following demolition of single-storey ground floor side extension and demolition of single-storey rooftop element.

I am writing on behalf of the Rio Cross Residents Association. There is concern from residents of houses on the south side of John Campbell Rd (odd numbers) about the impact of the proposals on their light and outlook.  The windows of the houses in question have not been assessed within the Daylight and Sunlight report but neither has it been demonstrated that they fall within the criteria that precludes them from assessment.  Furthermore section drawing 0301 fails to include the houses and their window positions in cross section.  Please can you request this additional information from the applicant and confirm when it is available online for the residents further review. Thanks.
